Traa-tan

Overview

Traa-tan (Homo-Felis Traaa) is an Extinct in the Wild species of Homo-Felis that was native to the egg and sneed regions of transgender Reddit. It is one of hundreds of species of Homo-Felis which have suffered displacement due to habitat changes.

Discovery

The first confirmed sighting of Traa-tan was in 2017 when Reddit user u/Demastro wrote a post on traa on Reddit about wanting there to be a trans mascot that was a catgirl because she just automatically assumed that a catgirl with a choker was trans. She wrote in a comment

One of us needs to become a manga/anime maker so we can get the pickle cat girl who makes happy gay sounds but wants to die mascot to end the mascot wars and bring peace.... she can also have a FTM friend who shows up like once in awhile just to remind people he exists and then fades into the darkness.

She then posted the rough draft of this in r/traa (shown below) u/daisynoir suggested that "If you could get her to do the red shirt guy pose and facial expression, that would be hilarious." Demastro followed the idea and created the original traa-tan. Over an approximate 2 year period, thousands of traa-tans emerged within the coming years to meme about the trans experience.

Anatomy and Distinguishing Features

Traa-tan's are notable for their red hoodies and vestigial feline ears, which differentiates them from the convergent evolved Homo-Boymoderus Species which have a black coat and no feline ears. Traa-tan's hoodie often sports the emblem of pickles, as a reference to the pickles meme (a majority of sub-2 years HRT transgender women suffer salt cravings due to the common antiandrogen Spironolactone's diuretic side effect). Traa-tan's also accessorize, often sporting a choker with the transgender flag color scheme.

Displacement of Species and Removal from Wild

Compared to other species in the Homo-Felis Genus, traa-tan's decline in numbers, endangerment, and eventual extinction in the wild did not eclipse the later dominance of the rivaling Homo-Canis genus. Compared to Homo-Canis, Homo-Felis suffer an onset phenoptosis whose conclusion is marked by switching from 200 mg spiro+2mg oral estradiol to estradiol valerate or estradiol cypionate injections while Homo-Canis do not experience this. Reasons for this are unclear, but scientists have suggested that early environmental exposure to estradiol valerate injections and libido may be somewhat responsible.

In recent years, scientists have suggested that the Traa-Tan more likely saw extinction from the wild due to habitat displacement from conflicts like the felixposting papal schism and the erosion of Reddit.

Conservation Efforts and The Traa-tan Adoption Program

Since the closing of the original reddit r/traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns in April 2023, Traa-Tans have had an increasingly smaller number of habitable locations.
